Hormone replacement comes in many forms, including replacement with synthetic hormonal substances by injections, pills, creams, gels, patches, etc. However, synthetic hormones are not identical to the hormones the body uses and can act as toxins because their chemical makeup is at odds with the body. Adverse side effects from synthetic hormones are often worse than the symptoms for which the cure was introduced.

Unlike synthetic hormones, bioidentical hormones are an exact replica of the hormones naturally produced by the body. Bioidentical hormones are based on compounds found in such plants as yams and soybeans. These plant-based hormones are processed in such a way that their structure is identical to hormones produced naturally by the body. This is why bioidentical hormones are termed “natural” and can be metabolized by our bodies in the same way as hormones made wihtin the body.

Customized bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is the proper way to safely restore hormone levels. Your response to bioidentical hormone replacement therapy depends on your overall health, genetic profile, diet, lifestyle, stress level, environment, and nutritional supplementation.

At RevitaLife, we offer an individualized bioidentical hormone replacement therapy program that includes:

For Men

For Women

Bioidentical hormone pellets have gained prominence as the most effective and the most bioidentical method to deliver hormones in both men and women. Bioidentical means that the hormones used in the pellets are chemically the same as those produced by the body. The pellets, which are larger than a grain of rice and smaller than a Tic Tac, contain either testosterone or estradiol, an important form of estrogen. They are prepared by local compounding pharmacies that merge state-of-the-art technology with the most up-to-date medical knowledge to prepare customized formulas from natural ingredients in dosages that meet the patient's specific needs.

  • Hormone pellet therapy for women typically begins at menopause when symptoms of hormonal imbalance appear, although there may be situations where therapy commences sooner. Menopausal symptoms may include interruption of the menstrual cycle, weight gain, reduced energy, emotional instability, and difficulty concentrating. The pellets contain estrogen or testosterone; depending on the results of the hormone testing, either or both of these hormones may be needed by women for proper bodily function.
  • Hormone pellet therapy for men typically begins over the age of 40 but, as with women, therapy at earlier ages may be necessary for some males. As men age, they produce less testosterone and may begin to experience fatigue, reduced sexual desire, weight gain, and depression. Hormone pellet therapy is normally done to increase testosterone levels.

The bioidentical hormone pellets avoid the fluctuations of hormone levels associated with synthetic hormones. Studies show that, when compared to conventional hormone replacement therapy with synthetic hormones, bioidentical hormone pellets are superior for the maintenance of bone density, restoration of sleep patterns, and improvement in sex drive, libido, sexual response, and performance.

No other method of hormone delivery is as convenient for the patient as the pellets. They have been used in both men and women since the late 1930s, and even patients who have failed other types of hormone therapy have a very high success rate with the pellets.

The insertion of bioidentical hormone pellets is a simple, relatively painless procedure done under local anesthesia. The pellets are placed under the skin, usually in the lower abdominal wall or upper buttocks through a small incision, which is then taped closed. The experience of the healthcare professional is important in placing the pellets and determining the correct dosage of hormones to be used.

Bioidentical hormone pellets deliver consistent, healthy levels of hormones that provide optimal therapy for 3-5 months in women and 4-6 months in men. They do not need to be removed because they completely dissolve on their own.

Both men and women need adequate levels of testosterone for optimal mental and physical health and for prevention of chronic illnesses like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, which may be associatedwith low testosterone levels. Testosterone delivered by bioidentical hormone pellets have been shown to increase energy, relieve depression, increase the sense of well-being, relieve anxiety, and improve memory and concentration. Testosterone delivered by pellet implant also increases lean body mass (muscle strength, bone density) and decreases fat mass.

For women, estrogen pellets do not increase the risk of blood clots like conventional or synthetic hormone replacement therapy. Studies show that, when compared to conventional hormone replacement therapy, estrogen and testosterone pellets are superior for the relief of menopausal symptoms. Testosterone delivered by a pellet implant has been used to treat women who suffer from migraine and menstrual headaches and also helps with vaginal dryness, incontinence, and urinary urgency and frequency.

Improved diet and lifestyle, along with stress reduction, are critical for optimal health and should be part of the patient’s overall regimen to maximize the success of hormone replacement.
